* Wendy has just returned from an amazing 9 musical days in Cuba.  "Music is not external in Cuba.  It is the very breath and soul of the people and completely infuses all aspects of daily life," Wendy observed.  As part of the experience Wendy had the opportunity to perform at the Union Nacional de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba, one of Cuba's most prestigious art clubs.   Reknown composer and conductor Guido Lopez Gavilán organized a salon with Cuban musicians who performed new works of Cuban composers and U.S. American Composers Forum delegates Peter Flint, Mary Ellen Childs, Oliver Lake, and Wendy Loomis.  After the concert there was an incredible exchange of dialogue, discussion, and lots of hugs among the artists from both countries.   See PRESS page  for great article on the experience, including Composers Salon program.

* Phoenix Rising (aka Wendy Loomis, composer/pianist, and Monica Williams, flutist/arranger) premiered a new piece called "los Cubanos" at a house concert on January 31st.  The work was for piano, percussion, and flutes mixed with visuals from Wendy's Cuban visit.  Many more performances to come!
